A thousand-year history, a location at the crossroads of important commercial and communication routes, an extensive port and mercantile traditions - all this makes Gdańsk a meeting place of many cultures, nationalities and denominations.

Gdynia is a port city on the Baltic coast of Poland. It’s known for its modernist buildings, including the Museum of the City of Gdynia, which has exhibits about local history. Kościuszki Square, with a distinctive fountain as its center, leads to the waterfront.

Sopot is a town on the Baltic Sea in northern Poland. Along with neighboring cities Gdynia and Gdańsk, it forms the so-called Tri-City metropolitan area. Sopot is known for its health spas, sandy beach and its long wooden pier that extends into the Bay of Gdańsk.

The 16th National Selection Conference of EYP Poland

Dear Participants,

Coming from Rzeszów, which is rather a small city in southern-east Poland, I have been striving to find a way to travel and discover the world since I can only remember. You know what they say, you find things you need the most in your life only when you don’t expect them to come to you. And they come. In the most surreal and helpless moments these small, yet meaningful events have probably the biggest impact on us and in the end make us who we are. And that is how I became a part of EYP - suddenly, with not much excitement and no long-term goals to achieve.

Something told me to stick around, and I did. Now, after over two years of my involvement in the organisation, I am happy to take up the challenge of Head Organising the 16th NSC of EYP Poland together with my organising team. Together with Core Organisers, we have started working on the event back in October. With every new member joining the Session I was getting more and more excited to meet everyone in person this September in Trójmiasto. I just hope that, when it’s over, we will have plenty of good memories and satisfaction from contributing and raising the bar.

A word from your President

Dear Delegates,

Having joined this organisation five years ago, I feel very passionate about EYP because I believe that education is the key to making this world a better place. I believe that what EYP provides young people with - is not only many amazing friends from all over Europe, but also a more open and critical mind. It teaches us to think and to questions the world we live in and demand more from it. This is probably the main reason why so many of us hear the phrase “EYP doesn’t change the world, but it changes people who change the world.” So whether you have already felt the impact EYP can have on society or not, you reading this text bring you one step closer to becoming that person, who will trigger the change: through your participation in debates, discussions during Committee Work and even playing some awkward team building games.

Together with the officials’ team, we’ve been working for already almost a year on building the foundation of vision and spirit of Trojmiasto 2019 - 16th National Selection Conference of EYP Poland. We believe to have shaped the vision and values we want to bring to the session and we cannot wait to share this vision with all of you already this September. In order for this to happen, we kindly invite you to take the first step and get aquatinted with the session’s theme and topics and challenge yourself. We encourage everyone to use the session as a way to start raising bars starting with ourselves, so go ahead and start with yourself and have fun while doing so!
